Officials at a DeKalb apartment complex agreed to pay $255,000 for a lawsuit that began last year.
Regina Wallace's family allege University Village violated fair housing laws. They say the complex failed to meet her disability needs and retaliated against her for requesting accommodation.
Wallace was assigned to a third-story unit and requested a first-story unit. She was threatened with eviction for her adult daughter, who serves as her caregiver, living in the unit, even though Wallace's disabilities were verified with documentation.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is in a Voluntary Compliance Agreement with University Village as a result of the lawsuit.
