A replica of Washington D.C.'s Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall will set up shop in Sycamore this weekend.
The “Wall That Heals” contains the names of more than 58,000 troops either killed or missing in action, including 19 service members from DeKalb County. Though it has traveled across America, Renee McGuan with the DeKalb County’s Veteran Assistance Commission says this is the third time the replica will come to the county.
"We had it in 1997, we had it back in 2007 and one of our employees here at the Veterans Assistance Commission suggested that we bring it back again," she said. "We thought 2017 would be the perfect time."
The wall starts its journey to DeKalb as a motorcade Wednesday morning in Yorkville. It will be set up in Sycamore from July 13-16, with various ceremonies for local veterans and gold star families. You can find more information about the exhibit and associated events at dekalbcountywall.com.
