A water main break in downtown Rockford is causing headaches for some businesses and drivers.

Emergency crews from Rockford's water department are working to repair a water main in the 200 and 300 block of Jefferson Street on Rockford's near west side. Jefferson Street is closed between Wyman and Church Streets. Detours are set up and repairs are expected to take three to five business days, according to a news release from Greg Cassaro of the city's water division.

The Rockford Public Library's main branch on Wyman Street is closed for the rest of the day because of the lack of water. Library management encourages patrons to call the library tomorrow at 815-967-6731 to make sure it is open before heading over.

Memorial Hall and several businesses are also closed because of the break.
