WNIJ’s Gas Price Monday: Nov. 23, 2015

South Carolina no longer has the lowest gas price average, and Illinois prices declined by at least a dime from last week.

According to AAA, a gallon of regular gas in the Rockford area costs $2.03 on average. That’s 14 cents less than last week but about 85 cents less than last year.

Chicago prices are at $2.41 per gallon. That's 16 cents less than a week ago and about 80 cents less than a year ago.

The state average is $2.02 per gallon. That’s about a dime cents less than last week but almost a dollar cheaper than it was last year.

On average, the cheapest gas in the state is in Springfield. It’s priced at $1.76 per gallon of regular unleaded gas, which was 17 cents less than last week.

The national average is $2.07, which is nine cents less than last week.

The state with the highest gas price average is Hawaii at $2.83 per gallon, which is three cents less than last week. Indiana has the lowest at $1.82 per gallon.
