WNIJ’s Gas Price Monday: Oct. 26, 2015

Gas prices in Illinois fell a little from last week ... but only about a dime.

According to AAA, gallon of regular gas in the Rockford area costs $2.31 on average. That’s 7 cents less than a week ago and about 70 cents less than a year ago.

Chicago prices are at $2.80 per gallon. That's about a dime less than a week ago and about 75 cents less than a year ago.

The state average is $2.35 per gallon. That’s 11 cents less than last week but about 70 cents cheaper than it was a year ago.

The cheapest gas in the state, on average, is in Springfield, where it’s at $2.05 per gallon of regular unleaded.

The national average is $2.20, which is about a nickel less than last week.

The state with the highest gas is Hawaii at $2.89 per gallon. South Carolina has the lowest at $1.89 per gallon.
