WNIJ seeks a producer and reporter for Morning Edition. This position needs a strong writer who is creative and able to contribute to a fast-paced, content-rich presentation of the news for northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.
This position involves writing and editing newscast copy, downloading and editing newscast audio, and gathering and aggregating news for broadcast and digital media.
The producer works closely with the Morning Edition host, and may also act as a substitute host.
The person who gets this job will be the first to arrive at WNIJ, starting each day at 3:45, and must be able to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines. Excellent news judgment is a must. The successful candidate will also be savvy with social media.
Candidates should also be able to cultivate news sources and generate stories of interest to the WNIJ audience.
