The average cost of a gallon of regular in Illinois shot up a dime over the past week, to $1.79. That’s four cents higher than the national average, according to AAA's Daily Fuel Gauge Report.
Gas prices in Rockford are up six cents since last Monday and Chicago is once again over the two dollar mark.
Nationally, gas prices are up again this week, to almost $1.75 a gallon.
