WNIJ's Gas Price Monday: Sept. 7, 2015

Gas pricesin Illinois are, on average, 15 cents cheaper than last week.

A gallon of regular gas in the Rockford area costs $2.51. That’s about 15 cents less than a week ago and a dollar less than a year ago.

The state average is $2.61 per gallon. That’s down 15 cents from last week but about a dollar cheaper than it was a year ago.

The cheapest gas in the state, on average, is in Bloomington-Normal, where it’s at $2.19 per gallon of regular unleaded. That’s about 20 cents less than last week.

Chicago prices are at $3.15 per gallon. That’s about 15 cents less than a week ago and only about 75 less than a year ago.

The national average is $2.40. The state with the highest gas is Alaska at $3.35 per gallon. South Carolina has the lowest at $1.97 per gallon.
