About 100 Northern Illinois University students, faculty, and staff will have the chance to give direct feedback on their President.

The move is part of what President Doug Baker calls a “360-degree review” of his performance.  He's evaluated annually by the Board of Trustees but, this year, both Baker and university officials want more detailed feedback.

A Rockford anesthesiologist has been elected to a one-year term as chairman of the University of Illinois system's Board of Trustees.

Dr. Timothy Koritz of Roscoe was chosen for the position Thursday at a trustees meeting in Chicago. He's been on the board since 2009. He works at Rockford Memorial Hospital and is a former professor at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Rockford.

He graduated with a bachelor's degree from the Urbana-Champaign campus.

Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner says the people he’s been talking to about serving as University of Illinois trustees are “incredible” and “extraordinary”. But he says he can’t give out their names just yet.

The terms of three U of I trustees are expiring this month. Rauner has said he wants to take the university to a new level, once the state budget dispute is settled. And he says he hopes to have an announcement soon on new trustees who can help him do that.

Rock Valley College’s Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting Monday to consider who will fill a recent vacancy.

Insurance agent Frank Haney was a longtime member of the body, even serving as chair, but resigned in July to begin his campaign for Winnebago County Board Chairman.

Member Patrick Murphy currently serves as chair, and the Board plans to deliberate over a replacement to Haney in closed session.
