Volunteers at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Virgil, Illinois have one last fundraising push this Lenten season. Each Friday during Lent (not including Good Friday) dozens of parishioners lend a hand to make the annual Fish Fry fundraiser a success. They serve between 450-600 people within a three hour period each week. The money raised helps with building and utility upgrades. It's also an opportunity to share the true message behind the season with others.

We decided to take a peek behind the curtain...

Peoria Bishop Daniel Jenky is hopeful that the Trump administration will protect Catholic institutions from having to offer birth control insurance coverage to employees and contraceptive services to patients. He disagrees with critics' assertion that the provision restricts women’s access to birth control.

A group called Catholics United is calling on Peoria Bishop Daniel Jenky to stop using the pulpit of his diocese for partisan proclamations. Bishop Jenky is ordering all priests in the Peoria Diocese to read a letter during this weekend’s services.

Five-thousand Catholics from across northern Illinois gathered in Rockford Monday for the ordination of their new bishop, David Malloy.
