Funding Still A Roadblock For Thomson Prison

Federal officials remain committed to opening a vacant prison in northwest Illinois. But securing funding remains a key obstacle in getting the facility in Thomson up and running.

Republican Bobby Schilling is once again running for Congress. The one-term Republican, who lost his seat last year, announced Monday he'll try to reclaim his post in Illinois' 17th Congressional District.

Members of Congress are back home instead of trying to work out a plan to avoid massive across-the-board cuts scheduled to take effect March 1st. Many are using the opportunity to show how sequestration will hurt the people who live and work in their districts.
