What's the impact of Gov.'s pension fix?

Illinois Governor Pat Quinn wants state institutions, such as Northern Illinois University, to contribute to their workers' pensions.  Currently, the state pays the employer share of contributions.   Quinn's plan would slowly shift the responsibility for paying the "normal cost of pensions" to universities, community colleges and school districts.

Winnebago-Boone courts next for cameras and microphones

Illinois Supreme Court Chief Justice Thomas Kilbride was the keynote speaker at the Illinois News Broadcasters Association's spring 2012 convention.

The 17th Judicial Circuit, comprising Winnebago and Boone Counties in northern Illinois, will be the next courts to permit news media cameras and recording devices during trials.

Illinois Supreme Court Chief Justice Thomas L. Kilbride announced the action Saturday during an address to the Illinois News Broadcasters Association convention in Macomb. He said the order will be issued today.
