Activists in the Black Lives Matter movement recently published a 10-point plan to reduce police violence. Rockford leaders are responding to the proposal.

It’s called "Campaign Zero." National activists want stronger guidelines limiting the use of force. They also want to ban police quotas for tickets and arrests, and end the sale of military weapons to police forces.

Rockford has seen a string of shootings, including seven murders, over the past month. That prompted city officials to demonstrate what they are doing about violent crime.

It’s a big week for development in Rockford, and Mayor Larry Morrissey was happy to highlight that during his State of the City address.

Rockford will give nearly $300,000 in stimulus money back to the federal government. Investigations by the city and the Office of the Inspector General found that Rockford’s Human Services Department improperly used Community Block Grant funds in 2009 and 2010.
