The lead investigator on the case of a northern Illinois police officer found shot dead has confirmed that the police lieutenant was shot with his own weapon.

Lake County Major Crimes Task Force Commander George Filenko said in a news conference today that Fox Lake Police Lieutenant Charles Joseph Gliniewicz was shot twice, once in the right side, front of his protective vest and once in the upper left chest area.  Filenko  says there was evidence of a struggle at the scene, but tests were inconclusive on whether Gliniewicz fired his gun, or someone else.
