Polls Agree Illinois Governor Race Will Be Tight

Polls are coming in at a rapid pace, from polling companies like Rasmussen Reports, newspapers like the Chicago Tribune, and interest groups like the state Chamber of Commerce. They vary in the number of likely voters contacted, the wording of the questions these people were asked, and, of course, their responses.

But they all agree: the race for Illinois governor is going to be close. Really close.

Illinois Candidates Among Top Spenders For TV Ads

Illinois ranks fourth in the nation for total TV ad spending this election. The state trails only Pennsylvania, Texas and Florida. The findings come from the Center for Public Integrity.  The largest spending comes for the governor's race between Republican Bruce Rauner and incumbent Pat Quinn. 

The analysis found candidates for Illinois offices spent $26.4 million to air 34,600 ads between early last year and this month.

New Illinois Polls Show Growing Support For Gay Marriage, Dissatisfaction With Government

A new poll finds that 70-percent of Illinoisans think the state is heading in the wrong direction. Even stronger majorities favor term limits for state legislators. Another poll shows stronger support for gay marriage.
