Rockford Memorial Hospital’s REACT helicopter program has resumed full air and ground transport service. In December, a pilot and two flight nurses were killed in a crash while responding to an emergency call in Mendota.
Investigators have issued a preliminary report into the fatal medical helicopter crash earlier Dec. 10 near Rochelle. The NTSB report says the pilot notified the dispatch center about weather conditions and said he was aborting the flight. No further communications were received.
A public memorial service for the crew of the Rockford Memorial Hospital REACT helicopter is scheduled for Wednesday, December 19, at 10 a.m. at Rock Valley College in the Physical Education Center. The memorial service will end with a flyover by a number of aircraft. The service is open to the public.
