Rockford, Loves Park, Pecatonica share electricity aggregation deal

Three Winnebago County communities have signed a joint electricity aggregation agreement with FirstEnergy Solutions of Akron, Ohio, to supply power at a discounted rate for residents and businesses with an overall savings of nearly $20 million.

The Cities of Rockford and Loves Park and the Village of Pecatonica signed an intergovernmental agreement earlier in the year to bid jointly for contract as a result of the referendum approved in March.

Rockford curfew limits teen late-night hours

Teens out late in public in Rockford may be subject to the city's curfew law if they are not working or in the company of an approved adult, according to the Rockford Police Department.

No minor under 17 years of age can be out and about in public within the city after midnight Friday and Saturday until 6 a.m. the following morning. The curfew start is moved back to 11 p.m.  Sunday through Thursday, running to 6 a.m. the following day

Downtown Rockford parking ramp 44% closed

The City of Rockford has indefinitely closed off 369 spaces – about 44% -- of the 843 spots in the downtown Concourse Parking Deck just across South Church Street from the BMO Harris Bank Center.

With limited on-street parking, the facility is the primary parking location for entertainment events at the former MetroCentre and among the preferred choices for activities at Davis Park along the Rock River.
