Starting today, the school will be known as Rockford University. Administrators say <a href="http://www.rockford.edu/?UniversityStatusFAQ" target="_blank">the change will better reflect the mission of the institution</a>.&nbsp; The school was founded in 1847 as Rockford Female Seminary. Rockford’s current student body is around 1,250 students.
