Rochelle Choir concert Holocaust remembrance

NIU expert: Chicago ready for pandemic

DeKalb, IL – Dennis Cesarotti teaches disaster preparedness at NIU. He also helped Chicago's public health department plan for a bird flu pandemic. Cesarotti tells WNIJ's Dan Klefstad that Chicago's plan will help it cope with any flu pandemic, including H1N1 Flu (Swine Flu).

Donate Life

DeKalb, IL – "Donate Life" Month is almost over, but organ donation proponents haven't given up yet. In DeKalb this week, ceremonies were held at NIU, Kishwaukee Hospital, and the drivers license facility to honor people who have pledged to donate their organs. WNIJ's Susan Stephens reports.

NIU's Guitarist-in-Residence Hall

DeKalb, IL – Music fans might recognize the name Michael Gulezian. He's performed his solo acoustic guitar music on public radio programs like "A Prairie Home Companion," "World Cafe," and "Echoes." But you may not know that for the past eight years, he's been spending time with students at Northern Illinois University's Fine Arts House, giving advice and getting inspiration in return. NIU and Cambodian genocide

DeKalb, IL – When the communist movement called the Khmer Rouge took over the South Asian country of Cambodia in the mid 1970s, it led to one of the worst genocides of the 20th century. Now, five of the movement's leaders are finally being put on trial, and as Andy Mitchell reports, it's thanks, in part, to people at NIU.
