Chicago Cubs Head To Wild Card Game Against Pirates

Major League Baseball

The Chicago Cubs visit the Pittsburgh Pirates tonight for their National League wild card game. It’s the first playoff appearance for the Cubs in seven years.

This is the third straight post season for the Pirates and the first for the Cubs since 2008. Chicago won 11 of the 19 meetings between the teams in the regular season…including a six-four record at the Pittsburgh ball park.

The Cubs are expected to send out pitcher Jake Arrieta. He’s a right-handed Cy Young candidate who turned in an amazing performance at the end of the regular season…including his career first no-hitter against the Dodgers in August.

If the Cubs win tonight, they’ll head to the division series Friday against the St. Louis Cardinals…champions of the National League Central for the third straight year.
