DeKalb, IL – Construction Lane Closures Suspended Where Possible for Labor Day Holiday
SPRINGFIELD - With thousands of people expected to be on the move on state highways over the Labor Day weekend, the Illinois Department of Transportation is suspending road work where possible to reduce potential traffic congestion.
Starting at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, IDOT will suspend all non-emergency road work and open up all lanes where possible until midnight, Monday, Sept. 6. However, due to the nature of some projects, there will be construction zones throughout the state that will continue to have lane closures in effect.
IDOT is urging motorists to slow down and drive with caution through these work zones. Holiday travelers are reminded that work zone speed limits are still in effect wherever they are posted. IDOT and the Illinois State Police also remind drivers to buckle up every time and be aware that law enforcement will be out in force to crack down on impaired drivers and safety belt violators.

Cook County
Structure carrying 111th Street over northbound and southbound I-57; bridge replacement restricts traffic; shoulder closures on I-57. 111th St. closed at I-57 and traffic detoured to 112th Pl.
159th St. (US 6) from I-294 to east of IL 1 (Halsted St.), for reconstruction with 159th St. closed from Park Ave. to Center St.; detour posed using IL 1 (Halsted) to Sibley Blvd. and Dixie Highway. Along with one lane closed on 159th St. from I-294 to Park Ave. and from Center St. to east of Halsted. Also, one lane closed in each direction of Dixie Highway, Wood St., Park Ave. & IL 1 (Halsted) at 159th St.
Kedzie Ave. over Cal Sag Channel (North of 135th St.); bridge replacement restricts traffic; one lane closed in each direction. Motorists should expect delays.
Dixie Highway over Butterfield Creek (south of Flossmoor Road) bridge reconstruction; Dixie Highway closed south of Flossmoor Road; detour posted at 183rd St., IL 1 (Halteed St.) and Joe Orr Road.

I-57 Manhattan-Monee Road entrance and exit ramps; major reconstruction; no lane closures expected on I-57 north and southbound, however, the right and left shoulders will be closed and lanes are reduced on Manhattan-Monee Rd., & NB i-57 at Manhattan-Monee Road & on SB exit to Manhattan-Monee Rd. Narrow ramps, motorists need to take caution.

US Business 20 at McKinley Avenue in Belvidere will be restricted to one lane in each direction due to roadway widening to add turn lanes at the intersection.
HENRY COUNTY
I-74 north of Woodhull is restricted to one lane in each direction while the bridges over Opheim Road and TR-379 are replaced one half at a time.
IL 82 approximately three miles south of IL 92. Replacement of the culvert at Elks Branch Creek north of Geneseo restricts traffic to one lane controlled by temporary traffic signals.

JODAVIESS COUNTY
US 20 will be restricted to one lane in each direction east of East Dubuque while the eastbound lanes are replaced west of Sand Hill Road.
US 20 near Camillus Drive at the east edge of East Dubuque will be restricted to one lane in each direction while a box culvert under US 20 is replaced one half at a time.
IL 78 south of Warren. Replacement of two culverts near Meyer Road and Chelsea Road restricts traffic to one lane controlled by temporary traffic signals.
LEE COUNTY
I-39 is restricted to one lane in each direction near US 30 as the shoulders have been removed and are being replaced as part of a 19 mile reconstruction project.
Westbound IL 2 near the Sauk Valley College entrance between Dixon and Sterling. Traffic is restricted to one lane as two bridges are being replaced one half at a time.
ROCK ISLAND COUNTY
I-74 eastbound from the Mississippi River to IL 5; traffic is restricted to one lane as four bridges are being replaced one half at a time.
I-80 over the Mississippi River is restricted to one lane in each direction due to the emergency repairs needed to the outside lanes of the bridge. Repairs will be completed by October.
I-80 from the Mississippi River to I-88 is restricted to one lane in each direction using the westbound lanes as the eastbound lanes have been removed and new pavement is being constructed.
US 67 bridge over the north channel of the Rock River between Milan and Rock Island: traffic is restricted to one lane in each direction as the bridge expansion joints are replaced.
WHITESIDE COUNTY
US 30 near the west edge of Morrison. Replacement of the bridge over Rock Creek restricts traffic to one lane controlled by temporary traffic signals.
WINNEBAGO COUNTY
IL 2 at Airport Road at the south edge of Rockford. Replacement of the bridge over Fuller Creek restricts traffic to one lane in each direction as the structure is replaced one half at a time.
IL 70 at the south edge of Durand. Replacement of the bridge over Otter Creek restricts traffic to one lane controlled by temporary traffic signals.
IL 75 from IL 70 south of Durand to Dakota is closed to through traffic. Grade changes at the IL 70/75 intersection and replacement of 12 structures in the 9 mile section have the road closed and traffic detoured on parallel County highways.
