The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services doesn’t want an outside monitor overseeing its operations. That’s despite the recommendation from an independent review of the agency.
An attorney for DCFS told a federal judge Tuesday the agency agrees with every other part of the expert’s often very critical report.
”We are pleased the department acknowledged the serious problems that were presented by the court-appointed experts,” Ben Wolf, with the American Civil Liberties Union, said. “But I think the important thing is to have an ongoing role for outside experts to see if the solutions are really going to work.”
The suggestion for oversight comes as part of an ongoing federal lawsuit.
