The beginning of December marks the start of seasonal parking rules in some northern Illinois communities. Some of the restrictions are based on snow emergencies, others take effect based on the calendar.
Beloit
After a snow emergency has been declared, all cars must be removed from City streets during the time the snow emergency is in effect.
DeKalb
Seasonal Parking Restrictions are in effect December 1 until April 1 regardless of weather conditions. Parking restrictions are marked. Also, designated Snow Routes prohibit parking after a 2” snowfall until snowplows have completely cleared the street.
Dixon
Residents will only be allowed to park on one side of the road following a snow of 2 inches or greater until the snow is cleared. The side of the street residents will park on depends on the day of the week.
• On even numbered days, cars will be required to park on the even numbered side of the street
• On odd numbered days, cars will be required to park on the odd numbered side of the street
Elgin
Parking is prohibited on any street designated as a snow emergency route for a period of 24 hours following the accumulation of two or more inches of snow.
Odd/even parking regulations are in effect in two select neighborhoods - Gifford / Summit Park and a portion of the Southwest Area Neighborhood to help facilitate snow removal.
Freeport
Winter Parking Regulations apply from December 1 through March 31. On even days of the month, drivers are required to park on even-numbered side of street. On odd days of the month, drivers must park on odd-numbered side of street. The odd/even requirement applies only during snow emergencies.*

Rockford
During a declared snow emergency is issued, drivers must park on the even side of the street on even-numbered days and on the odd side of the street on odd-numbered days.
Sterling
After a snow emergency announcement has been made, no parking will be permitted on the Snow Route until the snowfall stops and the full-width of the street has been plowed curb to curb.
When snowfall stops and the full-width of the street has been plowed curb to curb, normal parking regulations go back into effect.
On even-numbered calendar days, park your car on the even-numbered side of the street.
On odd-numbered calendar days, park your car on the odd-numbered side of the street.
Even and odd-numbered day will be considered as beginning between 6:00am and 8:00am. No tickets will be issued between 6:00am and 8:00am.
Calendar parking restrictions will be in effect until the snowfall stops and the full-width of the street has been plowed curb to curb. These restrictions will be in effect for at least 48 hours after the Snow Emergency has been declared.
