NIU has a new athletic director. Sean Frazier was introduced Tuesday as the new athletic director at Northern Illinois University. Frazier has spent the past six years in the athletic department at the University of Wisconsin and has served as the deputy director since 2011.
“The momentum that NIU has captured in recent time because of its athletic success, most recently in its BCS appearance in the Orange Bowl as well as several MAC Championships, demonstrates that all the athletic programs across the board can be successful,” he said.
Frazier said he plans to reach out to the local community and get them more involved in the athletic programs. He also wants to make sure the Huskies continue their winning ways by making NIU a nationally recognized university for its academic and athletic achievements.
He will begin his new role in August, and is looking forward to being a part of NIU athletics.
