Gun owners from around Illinois rallied in Springfield Wednesday in support of their Second Amendment rights.
Illinois Gun Owner Lobby Day, or I-GOLD, involved a march to the Capitol and a rally to get the attention of the governor and legislators.
Valinda Rowe is an organizer of the event. She says this is the first time a governor has met with them since I-GOLD started in 2007.
“It's been a terrific day. We had a great meeting, a great march, and something that we have never seen before was the open doors to the governor's office today."
The group gave Gov. Bruce Rauner informational packets and told him about their concerns.
"Basically just urging him to protect our rights. He's our last line of defense against a bad bill and he's our first line of defense on a good bill, so that's what we want to remind him of."
Rowe says their agenda includes expanding concealed carry and preventing a ban on assault weapons.
