Hundreds of law enforcement officers from across the country attended the funeral of a northern Illinois police officer who was fatally shot last week.
Friends and family of Fox Lake police Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz also attended the service yesterday at a high school in Antioch, his nearby hometown. The Chicago Tribune reports the funeral procession stretched for 18 miles.
Gliniewicz was shot while chasing three suspicious men on foot in a marshy area of the lakeside community. Police are still searching for the suspects.
Gliniewicz, a married father of four sons, was a 30-year veteran of the department.
Funeral attendees included Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner.
