Illinois Governor Refuses To Comment On Presidential Race

Election

Governor Rauner says he is staying out of presidential politics during today’s Super Tuesday primaries and Illinois' March 15 primary.

Rauner said yesterday when questioned by reporters that there are challenges in Illinois and he is focused on those challenges 24 hours a day.

Rauner said that despite being Illinois' top Republican, he doesn't feel it's his job to weigh in on some of comments and stances by presidential candidate Donald Trump.

However, referencing the support Trump may be getting from the Ku Klux Klan, Rauner said there is no place in American society for that organization or ``for racism and bigotry.''

Other Republican leaders have expressed concern over Trump's refusal to immediately disavow former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke's support.
