A judge has ordered two young brothers to pay more than $2,000 in restitution for setting a 2013 fire that destroyed a large portion of downtown Prophetstown, Illinois.
Whiteside County Judge Bill McNeal ruled on Tuesday that the boys must pay $2,350 to property owners. The brothers, who are now ages 13 and 17, will begin making small monthly payments in October. The younger brother has been ordered to pay $10 per month, and the older brother $25 per month. According to Sauk Valley Media, property owners estimated their losses to be in the millions.
The brothers pleaded guilty earlier this year to juvenile arson. Both are currently serving five years of probation and community service.
Their next court date is June 9, 2015.
