Illinois' junior U.S. Senator will soon return to work. Senator Mark Kirk will head back to Washington on Jan. 3, a year after suffering a major stroke that required months of intense rehabilitation.
Kirk had recently indicated he'd return to work next month but hadn't specified a date. The Republican's spokeswoman confirmed the date yesterday. She had no further details.
The stroke suffered by Kirk limited movement on the left side of his body. He's undergone rehabilitation for his movement and speech.
Kirk has been releasing video updates on his progress including footage of him working with therapists and climbing stairs.
