A complaint before the state board of elections against State Sen. Sam McCann has been dropped for technical reasons, but that's not the end of the story.
Attorney Dan Fultz, who represents the Jacksonville man who filed the complaint, says a new one is coming. He says the re-filing will contain new allegations, but wouldn't give specifics.
"The reason we're going forward is because we believe he's using the money to cover personal expenses because of a failed construction company that he owned,” Fultz said, and we believe that he's using this campaign fund as a slush fund, and we're going to find out."
McCann has said he will be vindicated and that the timing of the original allegation was not a coincidence.
It came as he was in a heated primary battle against a challenger supported by Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner. McCann won and has no opponent in the general election.
