Rep. Wallace Speaks Out On Home Health Care Overtime

staterepwallace.com

Last August The U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit ruled, that the Department of Labor can make home-care providers eligible for minimum wage and overtime pay.  Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner  wants to implement a new policy to circumvent that ruling.

Representative Litesa Wallace, Democrat for the 67th District, says the governor’s new policy negatively affect nearly 9,000 IL residents with disabilities and is not in the spirit of new federal laws.

“What our governor is hoping to implement and which we are really calling upon him today to suspend, directly contradicts the letter and the spirit of what the Obama administration called for when it says the Home Health Care workers are entitled to the just pay due to them, for overtime hours,” she said.
