Early Sunday, police responded to John Street and Locust Street for a report of shots fired. Officers received a report that an individual, who is not affiliated with the university, was driven by a friend to Kishwaukee Hospital for a gunshot wound.
According to a campus safety bulletin, police have additional patrols in the area and are interviewing several individuals. Police ask that the community stay clear of the area. DeKalb Police continue to investigate this incident.
This incident follows reports of an armed robbery early Saturday in the 1000 block of Regent Road. According to a safety bulletin, the male victim reported to DeKalb Police that he was robbed by one individual.
According to the bulletin:
The suspect approached the victim, presented a handgun and took personal property before fleeing the area in an unknown direction in a red color vehicle with tinted windows. The victim was not injured during the incident.
