Here we are, knee-deep in summer, with vacation on the mind this weekend.
Join us tonight for a night of Storytelling at Conveyor in downtown Rockford, where the theme is “Summer Vacation.” Got a memorable story to tell about your best…or worst? Doors open at 7:00 pm, storyteller check-in is 7:15, and stories begin at 8:00. Come to share a story or just listen! These tales of summer will be recorded for possible use in a future Free Range Radio broadcast on WNIJ. Cover is $5.00, or free with the donation of a metal folding chair.
Then Sunday, on Free Range Radio, we pack our picnic baskets and hiking shoes to tag along with some of public radio’s favorite producers as they trek through our nation’s greatest natural areas. It’s an encore broadcast of Hearing Voices’ “Walk in the Park.” Spend an hour of your summer with Katie Davis, Scott Carrier, and Jay Allison, traipsing from Yellowstone to the Everglades to Zion National Park to that community park just around the corner. That’s this Sunday evening at 6:00 on 89.5 WNIJ and streaming at WNIJ.org.
