Rockford, IL – Illinois is getting another large chunk of federal funding for high-speed rail. The 268-million dollar grant announced Monday will be used to purchase locomotives and passenger cars capable of handling high-speed travel.
But northern Illinois is still a long way from moving rail passengers at speeds exceeding 200 or even 100 miles per hour. That was one of a number of transportation subjects at yesterday's Tri-State Alliance Summit in Rockford. WNIJ's Susan Stephens reports.
