DeKalb/Rockford, IL – As an internationally renowned violinist, Rachel Barton Pine has traveled the globe. These days, however, she's spending a lot of time in northern Illinois. She joins NIU's Quartet-in Residence, the Avalon Quartet, Thursday night (September 17th) in DeKalb for a performance of 19th century French composer Ernest Chausson's concerto, along with pianist Matthew Hagle. She repeats the program Friday night in Chicago. A week from Saturday (September 26), she appears with the Rockford Symphony Orchestra, soloing on a concerto by Russian composer Alexander Glazunov.
WNIJ's Guy Stephens spoke with Pine recently. He asked her about someone known as a soloist doing chamber music. Turns out, that's only the half of it. (This is an extended version of the story that aired on WNIJ.)
