Illinois Democrats got some high-powered help during a campaign rally Monday in Rockford.
Vice president Joe Biden shook hands, posed for cell phone photos, and got the crowd riled up…it was a get out the vote rally, after all:
What I’m trying to tell you is that we better damn well get out for this election because there’s so much at stake, ladies and gentlemen!
Biden appeared before a very supportive crowd at the IBEW, with three other Democrats who are facing challengers in next week’s election: Senator Dick Durbin, Representative Cheri Bustos, and Governor Pat Quinn. Biden attacked their opponents, especially Quinn’s Republican challenger, Bruce Rauner, saying his opposition in the past to a hike in the minimum wage shows what the candidate thinks of his fellow Americans.
And a minimum wage hike seemed to be the favorite topic in the crowd of about 500 supporters in the union hall. Everyone was encouraged to take care of voting duties before the election, through early voting. That ends Sunday.
