For the second election year in a row, Illinois is trying out early-voting on select state university campuses. The law requires the polling places be in "high traffic locations."

Illinois' new 16th Congressional District will include parts of Rockford, DeKalb, and the LaSalle area. The old 16th is represented by Republican Don Manzullo of Egan, but last Spring he lost the primary to Congressman Adam Kinzinger of Manteno. Kinzinger was elected in 2010 to represent a neighboring district, the 11th.

Republican Clay Campbell has served as DeKalb County State’s Attorney since 2010, when he won a special election. He is seeking another term. Campbell’s opponent this fall is Democrat Richard Schmack, a private attorney who has previously served as an assistant state’s attorney in DeKalb County. The two candidates were asked a set of questions by WNIJ's Mike Moen.
