Rep. Randy Hultgren

The U.S. House has passed a measure Tuesday sponsored by a northern Illinois Congressman that increases funding at two federal labs in Illinois.

14th District Representative Randy Hultgren said the Accelerating American Leadership in Science Act will do just that, by making sure the Fermi and Argonne national laboratories, and the U.S., remain go-to destinations for the world’s best and brightest in science.

On A Friday Forum earlier this year, Illinois U.S. Representatives Bill Foster and Randy Hultgren talked about their hopes and concerns for the new Congress as it began its work. For this week's Friday Forum, WNIJ's Guy Stephens asked the two for an update on how things are going in Congress.

Democrat Jim Walz announced Monday that he will again seek the U.S. House seat now held by 14th District Republican Randy Hultgren.

Walz first ran against Hultgren in 2016 but only received 40% of the vote. This time, Walz says his priorities include sponsoring renewable energy legislation, fighting against the idea of corporations as people, and several health-related policies -- including negotiating lower prices on imported drugs and lowering the eligibility age for Medicare benefits.
