terrorist suspects

A federal judge is scheduled to hold a detention hearing for a 22-year-old Illinois Army National Guard soldier, who was accused of plotting a terrorist attack.

Prosecutors must offer proof today in Chicago for why Hasan Edmonds should remain jailed. A complaint that was unsealed last week says he and his 29-year-old cousin, Jonas Edmonds, planned an attack on a U.S. military facility in Joliet.

Jonas Edmonds isn't challenging his detention.

The daughter of a Rockford woman accused of supporting extremist groups claims her mother was falsely accused. She says her mother Jasminka Ramic doesn't stand with terrorism and would never send money to a terrorist organization.

Concerns over the sort of inmates that would be housed at the Illinois prison have delayed efforts by the federal government to purchase it from the state. U.S. Atty. Gen. Eric Holder tried to calm those fears Tuesday.
