WNIU

Come see the new space! Join Northern Public Radio and the Rockford Symphony Orchestra as we celebrate the opening of our new combined space at the Riverfront Museum Park with an open house and Rockford Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting ceremony this afternoon from 3 to 6 p.m.  The doors will open at 3 p.m. The ribbon cutting will be at 3:30 p.m. followed by tours and refreshments.

Classical WNIU invites families, seniors -- supporters of the arts, one and all -- to the annual presentation of "Christmas with Kantorei” - The Singing Boys of Rockford. Choose from one of two performances: a 3pm matinee scheduled for Sunday December 16th at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Rockford… and a 7:30pm evening performance on Friday, December 21st at First Lutheran Church in Rockford.

Are you familiar with the word, "Chautauqua?*" It refers to an institution that flourished in the late 19th and early 20th centuries providing popular entertainment and education in the form of lectures, concerts and plays -- often presented outdoors. Classical WNIU encourages you to experience this tradition brought back to life at the Midway Village Museum in Rockford, June 9th and 10th. In fact, John Heyl** Vincent -- a former Rockford minister -- was one of the founders of the Chautauqua movement, named for Chautauqua County, New York where the first gatherings began.

Classical WNIU is proud to support Klehm Arboretum in presenting its 19th annual Garden Fair in Rockford, the first weekend in June.

Throughout the years, this outdoor fair has become a popular shopping spot for many local gardeners seeking flowers, nursery stock, tools, artwork and other outdoor-related items and inspiration. This 3-day event features over 80 exhibitors and draws thousands of visitors to the grounds of Klehm Arboretum, making it the area’s largest outdoor living marketplace!
